Breaking: Colts Trade All-Pro Guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle

In the 2018 NFL Draft, Quenton Nelson was drafted 6th overall by the Indianapolis Colts, and has ever since been one of the best players in their offence. Nelson was an 8x Pro Bowler, 3x First Team All-Pro, and has been the best guard in football this year, only allowing 6 QB pressures and 0 sacks. Nelson is 30 years old going in his 9th NFL Season.

Why This Works for Indianapolis…

The Colts are 2-5 on the season following a 16-10 loss to Minnesota this past Saturday. They just fired their GM Chris Ballard and look like they are going to be heavy sellers at the November 10th NFL trade deadline. Nelson was in the last year of his 4-year, $80 million dollar contract, and with the team at 2-5, they are probably going to rebuild, so a trade around this time isn’t surprising.

Why This Works for Seattle…

The Seahawks are fresh off their Super Bowl 60 victory, but a rocky start to the season has them at 4-3. Letting Kenneth Walker III go in the off-season has turned out to be a huge mistake as he has been lighting it up with the Chiefs, while the Seahawks have been relying on 4th year running back Emmanuel Wilson, since their first-round pick Jadarian Price is injured. Trading for one of the best guards in football makes sense since their run game has been terrible this season.

Who Wins?

This is a win for Indianapolis if they get a little more out of Nelson. Seattle only gave up a 3rd and a 5th round pick to get one of the best guards in football, which even during a big fire sale, you should still thrive to get some higher draft capital. Seattle wins this trade 100% because it will address one of their biggest needs in helping the run game, and they barely gave up anything for him.
